China Levels Australia in Basketball Contest

A three pointer from Zhang Jingsong in dying seconds gave China a 87-87 draw against Australia in their first contest of basketball friendly in Taiyuan Wednesday evening.

After losing the first two quarters, the visitors played a fast attacking game in the third and outpointed China 67-63.

In the fourth quarter, China trailed the score to 67-all and 75- all, but they never looked to control the game. Two seconds before the final whistle, Zhang Jingsong jump threw a three pointer and levelled the first match between the two teams.

At the East Asian Games in May, China lost twice to Australia.

The second match of the friendly series will be held here Thursday evening.
