Canadian Students Have Three Hopes in Beijing

The Canadian athletes taking part in the World University Games have three hopes in Beijing: climbing the Great Wall, Visiting the Forbidden City and Walking around the Tian'anmen Square.

Francois Parent, official of Canadian sports delegation for the Universiade, said upon his arrival at the atheltes village that his students who for the first time visit China have put the three hopes in their schedule.

Parent said he was very impressed by the facilities in the village. "All of us know that Beijing has just won the right to host the 2008 Olympic Games. I am sure the Beijing university games will push forward the Olympic spirit to a new stage," he said.

The Canadian delegation has 246 members, competing in all sports except men's soccer at the games which will be held from August 22 - September 1.
