Former Mayor of Shenyang on Trial for Bribery

Mu Suixin, former mayor of Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, was brought to court Wednesday for being suspected of accepting bribes and not able to clarify sources of a huge amount of property.

The Intermediate People's Court of Dalian held a hearing of the case Wednesday. Mu was sued by the People's Procuratorate of Dalian City on August 4, 2001.

Also sued were six government staff members of Shenyang and two suspected bribers. Court hearings were also held in Yingkou, Dandong, Fushun, and Jinzhou cities Wednesday.

Ma Xiangdong, former vice-mayor of Shenyang, and several other government officials of Shenyang, are scheduled to be on trial soon in east China's Jiangsu Province, due to a judicial jurisdiction reason.
