Legend Quarter Net Profit Jumps Nearly 4.5 Times

Legend Holdings Ltd., China's largest computer maker, announced Wednesday that its net profit jumped 447.7 percent to 250.89 million HK dollars (32 million US dollars) for the quarter through June, from a year earlier.

Basic earnings per share was 3.32 HK cents compared with 0.62 HK cent previously.

Revenue inched up 4 percent to 6.094 billion HK dollars (781 million US dollars).

No quarter dividend will be distributed, unchanged from a year earlier.

Legend said its corporate IT unit was the biggest contributor during the quarter, representing 36.1 percent of total revenue, the consumer IT unit followed at 28.7 percent.

Contract manufacturing accounted for 6.2 percent of the revenue. Handheld devices and Internet services were the smallest contributors.
