China Urges US to Correct Wrong Decision on Collision Payment

China strongly urges the US side to correct its wrong decision on its payment for the Sino-US mid-air collision that occurred in April and give China due explanations as soon as possible so as to settle the issue properly.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Sun Yuxi made the remark Wednesday when asked to confirm whether the US side has, through its embassy to China, offered China a formal reply on this issue, and on the question about China's reaction to the reply.

Sun noted that the US side notified China recently of its decision on the payment issue through its embassy to China, and he pointed out that the decision is unacceptable to China in both content and form.

The Chinese side has firmly refused such a decision and made clear again its strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to the payment.
