China to Send 1,672 People to Study Abroad

China Scholarship Council has completed its selection work on sending personnel to study abroad. A total of 1,672 will be sent out to study in 42 countries and regions next year and the year after next.

More than 3,000 people in the country applied for overseas study and they were from universities, scientific institutions and enterprises. Among those who were recruited, 70 percent hold master degrees with those holding associate titles coming to 67 percent.

Among the selected personnel, 388 are senior visiting scholars and 1,284 are ordinary visiting scholars and those who want to pursue for further studies.

According to statistics, by last April, 93 percent of those sent to study abroad by Chinese government have returned, and those who did not come back have compensated for their breach of the contract.
