Beijing Universiade Games Athletes' Village Opens
The Athletes' Village of the 21st World University Games has opened its door to thousands student athletes after the opening ceremony Wednesday in Beijing.

Liu Qi, chairman of the organizing committee, together with other Chinese officials and George E. Killian, president of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony.

Zhang Jianmin, director of the Village, promised to provide excellent service for the athletes from over the world on behalf of his staff.

Killian said:"I have a feeling that I am at home. I hope the Universiade Games can be a successful rehearsal for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games."

He also appreciated the efforts paid by the organizers and local citizens.
