13th Western China Commodities Fair Scheduled

The 13th Western China Commodities Trade Fair will be held from September 2 to 6 in Wuzhong city of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, northwest China.

Li Rui, vice mayor of Wuzhong, told a press conference here Tuesday that the transaction volume of the fair is predicted to reach three billion yuan (361 million U.S. dollars).

He said the fair will also feature investment projects, trade talks, title transactions, technological exchanges and a series of cultural and sightseeing activities.

"It will bring in investment and cooperation projects totaling 15 billion yuan (1.8 billion U.S. dollars) worth, and at least 20 title transactions," Li predicted.

Initiated in 1989, the fair is an annual event sponsored by 11 prefectures and cities in western China and the five western railway sub-bureaus of Xi'an, Lanzhou, Chengdu, Ankang and Yinchuan. It has become an effective way to promote economic cooperation and enhance exchanges between China's east and west.
