Closing Ceremony of 21st Universiade Rehearsed

Trying to give the 21st Universiade a happy ending, the Beijing Games organizers rehearsed on August 12 the closing ceremony on the campus of China Agricultural University, 10 days before the games raised its curtain.

The closing ceremony, which will be held on September 1, will last about 100 minutes. Jia Ding, director of the ceremony said:" Our aim is to change the ceremony into a carnival for athletes, actors and spectators."

About 400 college students, students from vocational schools and professional models took part in the rehearsal. According to the organizers, the ceremony will be preceded by a fashion show and wrapped up by a 50-minute performence.

Jia Ding added that they tried their utmost to stage an impressive closing ceremony. "The ceremony is designed under the slogan 'friendship, sports and youth'. It will be focused on the communication among all attendents at the ceremony."

The 21st Universiade will be held in Beijing from August 22 - September 1. It is expected to draw over a record 7,000 athletes from over 160 countries and regions.
