Happy Gathering of Children from Beijing, Taiwan
About 100 students from Beijing and Taiwan gathered in Beijing on August 13 to begin a 10-day get-together.
Present at the welcoming ceremony Monday morning were senior officials including Sun Fuling, vice chairmen of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and Wang Fuqing, vice director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.
Yu Guilin, vice chairman of the Soong Ching Ling Foundation (SCLF), which sponsored the program, said that SCLF wants to see more mutual exchanges between the people across the straits, especially the younger generation.
In the 10 days, the students will participate in a series of activities in Beijing and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
