Journalists from home and abroad are welcome to cover the Sixth World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention, the preparatory committee has announced.

The convention will be held in Nanjing, capital of East China's Jiangsu Province, between September 17 and 19.

The committee announced that the press centre, set up at the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, is now ready to receive applications from media organizations.

The deadline for applications is August 25 and domestic and foreign journalists in China can apply directly to the press centre by phone using the number 010-65595064.

Hong Kong and Macao reporters can apply to the liaison office of the central government in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.

Taiwan journalists can apply to the Taiwan Affairs Office of Jiangsu Province.

Foreign journalists working overseas should apply to the Chinese embassies in their respective countries.

Nearly 5,000 Chinese entrepreneurs from around the world will gather at the convention which was initiated in 1991 to unite Chinese entrepreneurs worldwide to jointly promote economic and trade co-operation, and mutual development.

The aim of the convention is to encourage Chinese entrepreneurs to work together for peace, development and prosperity in the new century.

It will be the first time that the convention is held in China.

Previous meetings have been held in Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada and Australia.
