Solid Rocket Engine Examination System Passed Appraisal

The solid rocket engine examination system developed by Naval Aeronautics Engineering Academy has lately passed appraisal by related experts. This indicates that China has reached world advanced level in the study of solid rocket engine examination technology.

During the appraisal, when operator presses the button, the automatic examination system will start up immediately. The rocket engine is like a "giant" lying on the large examination flat, accepting scanning and examination. After data collection, analysis and processing by computer, a clear photo and a report were given.

The solid rocket booster is controlled by solid propellant combustion surface. If internal parts of the engine happen to come off, break, changes will occur in the combustion surface, even resulting in explosion. For a long period, due to lack of essential examination method, great losses have been incurred. How to determine an engine's life span is a hard problem for Chinese researchers. After two years' hard work, the system was finally developed.
