North China's Shanxi, a province full of resourceful cultural relics, started building a provincial museum in this capital of Taiyuan recently.
A ceremony was held at the museum site of Binhe Culture Square to officially launch the project, which covers a total area of 106, 301 square meters. The caldron-shaped museum requires an investment of 300 million yuan (36 million US dollars).
Local observers say that the museum will fully illustrate the development of the civilization of the province, which is regarded as one of the Chinese culture's cradles. It will also help to boost the tourism sector of the province.
