More Mature Chen Lu Aims at National Figure Skating TitleWhen competing with a group of teenage skaters, does a 25-year-old feel old and lonely?"No, I have never think that way, " said Chen Lu, world champion and bronze medalist in the Nagano Winter Olympic Games in 1998. "I feel I am more mature than the others." The elegant Chen made the audience feel every note of "Forever Dream", giving it life with her outstanding footwork in the interpretive program debut of the women's singles figure skating finals at the China's Ninth National Games. When her marks flashed, ranging from 5.3 to 5.8 for technical merit and 5.5 to 5.9, a day-high score for the artistry, the audience thrown a special gift - a bunch of flower to her. "I am always confident of my skills on presenting music and myself. The young skaters have improved a lot and performed very well today, but I am still the best," said the national title holder for more than 10 consecutive years since 1989. Known as the Butterfly Queen on the Ice, Chen went to U.S. as a pro skater in 1998, and returned Beijing for the finals of the quadrennial Ninth National Games last Thursday. "Maybe my difficulty routine is a little backward than before, but I have gained a lot of experience from the international events and tour shows in the United States. I would be very happy if I could win the title for my hometown Jilin," she said.
