Tibetan Lawmaker Meets Polish GuestRaidi, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress, met with Czeslaw Bielecki, chairman of the foreign affairs commission of the Polish National Assembly in Lhasa, capital city of Tibet Friday.Raidi briefed the guest on the tremendous changes in Tibet over the past 50 years, saying that Tibet has been an inalienable part of the China. Under the serf system 50 years ago, the general public of Tibet were oppressed and exploited by feudal lords, and they had no freedom, and had no right to participate in public affairs, Raidi said. Since the peaceful liberation of Tibet in 1951 and ensuing democratic reforms, the masses of serfs have been entitled to their own personal freedom, their own land, and they have become their own masters, he told the Polish lawmaker. "As an eye witness to these historical events, I have experienced all the great social, economic, cultural and educational changes in Tibet as a family member of the Chinese motherland," he stressed. Czeslaw Bielecki said that Poland has been consistent in maintaining the principle of one China and that Tibet is part of the country, and as a friend of China, he respects China's long splendid history and culture of the ancient civilization. Czeslaw Bielecki and his delegation arrived in Lhasa Thursday at the invitation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress of China. They will leave for Chengdu Saturday. |
