APEC WLN Meeting Receives Public Donations

All-China Women's Federation accepted public donations worth of some 800,000 yuan (over 96,000 U.S. dollars) for the upcoming Women Leaders Network (WLN) Meeting 2001 under the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

Wu Suk-qing, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and vice-chairperson of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, sponsored 250, 000 yuan and 500 suits of Chinese folk costumes. Wu, who is also vice director of the organizing committee for the WLN meeting, financed 10 scientists to participate in the conference.

Another two donators are the Nestle (China) Ltd. of Switzerland, giving 200,000 yuan and cookies worth of 30,000 yuan, and Fukami Tosyu from Japan-based B.C Consulting, who sponsored 210,000 yuan to the meeting.

The WLN Meeting 2001 is scheduled to be held in Beijing between August 22 and 24 this year.

Over 300 delegates, including female leaders of 21 APEC economies, female entrepreneurs in some small and medium-sized companies, scholars and representatives with non-governmental organizations, are expected to participate in the meeting.
