Conference Held for Industrial Engineering Development

More than 300 experts, entrepreneurs and government officials from both at home and abroad gathered in this largest port city in north China Friday to jointly discuss the development prospects of industrial engineering in the 21st century.

During the 3-day conference on industrial engineering, delegates from 18 countries including the United States, Japan, Canada and Britain will discuss over 20 topics.

The conference is jointly sponsored by Tianjin University and the industrial engineering sub-society under the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES).

Established in 1990, the sub-society now has 93 members in 29 provinces and municipalities throughout the country.

CMES Director He Guangyuan pointed out at Friday's opening ceremony that with China's WTO entry, more and more Chinese enterprises are in need of theoretical and technological support from industrial engineering, which is currently undergoing rapid development worldwide.
