Hamas to Continue Fighting Against Israel: Official

An official of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) Friday stressed that Hamas will continue fighting with Israel in the West Bank and Gaza Strip to force Israel to retreat and stop its bloodshed policy against the Palestinians.

Isama Hamdan, Hamas representative in Lebanon, made the remarks while meeting with Lebanese Information Minister Ghazi Aridi, the official NNA news agency reported.

Hamdan, who conveyed a letter from Hamas spiritual leader Ahmed Yassin to Lebanese leaders, told reporters after his talk with Aridi that they discussed the latest conflict between the Palestinians and Israel, especially the suicide bombing in Israel that killed at least 15 Israelis and injured nearly 100 others Thursday noon.

Both Hamas and the organization of Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the attack.

"In the next few days, we predict that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon will retaliate with more fierce actions against the Palestinians. But we will never yield to Israel's sword," Hamdan said.

He added that Hamas is part of the Palestinian resistance force, which comprises of the Palestinian National Authority, Hamas, Jihad and other organizations.

"We cooperate and fight together with Israel because we have the same object. This is to stop Israeli attacks against the Palestinians. Using force is one way to realize the goal," the Hamas official said.
