Cambodia's King Signs KR Trial Law

King Norodom Sihanouk signed the Khmer Rouge (KR) tribunal law late Friday, August 10, according to a royal decree issued by the office of Royal Palace.

The KR trial law was handed over to the king by the Constitutional Council after it was approved Tuesday.

"I don't oppose condemning and trying the former Khmer Rouge leaders, (because) the people have right to express their opinions in the government, National Assembly or Senate," Sihanouk said in a letter on Thursday to English newspaper the Sunday Time.

He said that he finally would respect the resolution made by the government, parliament and senate.
