Experts have estimated that the demand for motorcycles in the Chinese market will exceed 12 million in 2005.
According to the figures released by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), both production and sales exceeded 11 million vehicles last year. The sales volume was around 53.8 billion yuan, with the profit reaching 580 million yuan.
Experts pointed out that the demand in the motorcycle market will grow slowly in the near future. The fierce market competition will focus on product quality and after-sales service rather than price. Those products utilizing clean energy will gain popularity as environment protection is advocated more strongly.
Motorcycle users are mainly from big cities and coastal areas at the moment. With the development of the rural economy, small cities and suburbs will see an increasing number of users.
