China Condemns Bomb Explosion in Jerusalem

China Friday condemned the bomb explosion in Jerusalem on August 9, which caused mass casualties, and called on all parties concerned to exercise maximum restraint to keep the situation from deteriorating.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said Friday that China always opposes any form of terrorist action targeting civilians.

China has reaffirmed several times that peaceful negotiations are the only correct way to settle the dispute between Palestine and Israel, and the earnest implementation of the cease-fire agreement by the two sides is a necessary condition to ease tension in the Middle East, She said.

The spokeswoman said that China calls on all parties concerned to exercise maximum restraint to avoid the deterioration of the situation, and to take effective measures to reopen negotiations as early as possible.
