China Attaches Importance to Anti-Racism World Conference, Says FM

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan on Friday expressed China's will to play a constructive role at the forthcoming United Nations World Conference Against Racism.

In letters sent respectively to South African Foreign Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and UN rights chief Mary Robinson, Tang said the Chinese government attaches great importance to the conference and will work together with all parties concerned to make it a success.

The UN Conference will take place in Durban, South Africa, from August 31 to September 7. Robinson will be the secretary-general of the conference.
