China Mobile to Cut Cell Phone Call Fee by One Half

China Mobile will cut its 135, 136, 137,138 and 139 subscribers' cell phone call fee by one half across China. Shanghai is to put it into practice within two weeks.

Reporters had it verified from Shanghai Mobile Communications when interviewing the company's related persons that the company would launch its VPMN service to lay hold of its 4 million subscribers.

Related sources said that the wide use of Xiaolingtong, a kind of communication terminal product provided with cordless telephone function has objectively taken away part of the company's customers when explained the aforesaid move because of its cheap rate of 0.20 yuan every 3 minutes.

So far, China Mobile subscribers have to pay 50 yuan of monthly fee and 50 yuan of frequency usage fee per year. The cell phone call fee is 0.40 yuan per minute for local call. After VPMN is launched, subscribers of China Mobile can be charged by 0.20 yuan per minute for local call. If subscribers want to dial China Unicom's cell phones or fixed phones, the price will remain as usual.

Related methods will be issued for China Mobile's "Shenzhouxing" and "Yikatong" cards users.
