Traditional Chinese Cultural Activities to be Held in Israel

Sixteen people left Beijing Thursday for Jerusalem to attend a series of traditional Chinese cultural activities which will start on August 13.

Eight of them, from the Chinese Acrobatic Troupe, will perform the skillful Chinese acrobatic routine named "Pagoda of Bowls". The others, from Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province, will present the Tang Dynasty (618-907) court music and dance.

Exhibitions of cultural relics, calligraphy, kites and Chinese food will also be on display.

The exhibition of cultural relics is one of the most important cultural exchanges between the two nations.

"I hope that the Israeli people will be able to see the Chinese Terra-cotta Horses and Warriors and appreciate the brilliant civilization of this country," said Ran Gidor, the first secretary of the Israeli Embassy in China.

An official from the Ministry of Culture noted that the activities, held to mark the tenth anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Israeli diplomatic relations, will further promote the cooperation and exchanges between the two sides.
