HK Administrative Secretary Calls for Public Support of Younger GenerationThe full support from members of the public is indispensable to a healthy, caring and aspiring younger generation, said Donald Tsang, secretary for administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), Thursday.Parents, schools and police should work closely together to prevent juvenile crime, he said during a visit to the JPC Summer Camp at Wu Kwai Sha Youth Village. Tsang said: "Efforts of the government alone are insufficient as far as the fight against youth crime is concerned." "What we need is the full support and active participation from the whole community and in particular, the cooperation among parents, schools and police," he added. Tsang said that with the fight against computer crime being one of its objectives, he hoped the summer camp would help youngsters know more about the hazards and seriousness of this offense. He encouraged the younger generation to put their knowledge about information technology and computer to good use and give their full support to the police in the fight against computer crime. The JPC camp is organized annually by the police with sponsorship and support from a number of organizations. It is aimed at providing wholesome activities for JPC members during the summer vacation. Running from August 7 to August 10, this year's camp has attracted nearly 1,500 JPC members. |
