State Council Investigation Team to Prove Into causes of Mine Flooding Accident

A State Council Investigation team arrived in Nanning, regional capital of southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Wednesday afternoon to probe into the July 17 Nandan mine flooding accident which feared to have claimed 81 lives.

The investigation team consists of senior officials in charge of state safe production supervision, public security, supervision, economic and trade, trade unions and some other government departments.

The CPC Central Committee and the State Council have been attaching great importance to the accident investigation and the team is required to probe into the exact death toll, economic losses and cause of the accident.

The team is also asked to ferret out those who held back the truth, local government officials' malpractice and corruption as well as those organized criminal gangs.

Zhang Baoming, head of the investigation team, urged the regional government to continue the rescue work and properly handle problems arising from the accident.

He emphasized that the pressing task at the moment is to quicken the flood water extraction from the mines and ferret out the truth of the accident as soon as possible.

He also urged the local government to adopt effective measures to maintain mining order and social security order.

Cao Bochun, secretary of the regional Party committee, pledged to actively support the work of the investigation team and help the team to fulfil the investigation tasks.

The investigation team is expected to reach Nandan County Thursday morning.
