Chinese Swimmers Across Heilongjiang River to Reach Destination

The first of 80 Chinese swimmers who challenged China's Heilongjiang River has reached the bank of Blagoveshchensk in Russia at Beijing time 9:43 am. And the last one also successfully got to his destination fifteen minutes later, wrapping up the 4,000 meters long river- crossing.

The crossing was aimed at promoting the friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

The swimmers not only got waves of cheers from spectators on both sides of the river but also were warmly greeted by Amur state officals and local residents.

12-year-old Chinese girl Xing Cheng, the youngest among the swimmers hugged a Russian teenager and said, "Wish the everlasting friendship between us."
