East China Province to Hold International Tea Expo

The Second International Tea Expo in Jinan, in east China's Shandong Province, will be held in May 2002, according to sources from a news conference at an ongoing national tea fair being held in Nanning, capital of South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The Expo will be made up of a tea fair, tea product exhibition, panel discussion, investment negotiations and tourism promotion.

Experts will carry out discussions on a wide range of topics such as development of tea processing techniques and technology, preservation of related documentation and appreciation of tea sets.

Zhang Xin, spokesman for the Jinan government, said that the Expo, jointly sponsored by the China Tea Distribution Association, Shandong Tea Culture Association and Jinan Municipal Government, will promote the tea industry of China and help spread tea culture as well as boost the trade and economic relations between China and other countries.

Jinan sponsored the first Expo in May this year.
