China Fields Strong Delegation at 21st World University Games
China will field a strong delegation at the 21st World University Games to be held in Beijing from August 22 to September 1, it was announced by Chinese delegation Chef de Mission Li Furong.

The Chinese delegation consists of 265 athletes, 106 officials and 19 referees. The athletes, who are from 49 univeristies nationwide, will compete in all the 12 sports.

Among the Chinese athletes, 52 have competed in the Sydney Olympic Games, Li Furong said.

According to Li, Chinese athletes are expected to achieve good results in gymnastics, table tennis and diving as well as some of the team events.

At a press conference held on Wednesday, Li Furong also reiterated China's determination of fighting doping in sports. He said all the Chinese athletes to take part in the Universiade will be tested before the opening of the games.
