China Sets up Base for Maize, Wheat Improvement
An experimental base focusing on improving maize and wheat strains was set up Wednesday in Zhengzhou, capital of central China's Henan province, known as a granary of the country.
The establishment is a result of cooperation between the Institute of Crop Breeding and Cultivation of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Henan-based Kefeng Company and the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center, known by its Spanish acronym CIMMYT.
The base is to carry out experiments to provide information for scientific wheat planting along the Yellow and Huaihe rivers.
China is also willing to work with all other countries and regions, as well as international organizations, to develop its agricultural sector.
