Famous Brands Protected for Place of Origin

China's State Administration of Quality Supervision and Quarantine awarded Tuesday the logo of products protected for place of origin to six famous brands of the country, at the end of a national meeting in Jiangsu Province, east China.

This is the first time that the administration has issued such logos to famous brands of export products. It shows China has quickened its pace in maintaining the legitimate rights of producers and consumers according to internationally accepted practice on the eve of its entry into the World Trade Organization, sources said.

The six protected brands cover commodities such as silk, salted duck, white steam filature, cotton yarn and cloth.
