Chinese President Removes, Appoints Ambassadors
President Jiang Zemin has removed and appointed the following ambassadors according to the decisions made by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress:
Zhang Deguang is appointed ambassador to the Russian Federation, replacing Wu Tao;
Wu Tao is appointed ambassador to the Commonwealth of Australia, replacing Zhou Wenzhong;
Wu Dawei is appointed ambassador to Japan, replacing Chen Jian;
Zhang Zhijun is appointed ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, replacing Zhu Dacheng;
Wang Xinshi is appointed ambassador to the Republic of Benin, replacing Yuan Guohou;
Li Shuyuan is appointed ambassador to the republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, replacing Wen Xigui; and
Zhang Wanxue is appointed ambassador to the Republic of Macedonia.
