British Airways Launches Innovative Business Class ServiceBritish Airways Wednesday marked the introduction of the Club World business cabin, which enables business travelers to enjoy first class service on the Hong Kong-London route. With an investment of 2.5 billion HK dollars (320 million U.S. dollars), the Club World "lounge in the sky" is a complete overhaul of the business cabin, which is designed to offer business travelers comfort, space, privacy and flexibility. Business class passengers on the Hong Kong-London route of British Airways can get a flat bed service for an overnight sleep, which used to be privilege of only first class passengers. Introduced in August 2000, the Club World program also takes a bold move away from the conventional side-by-side seat configuration. Seats in business cabin are designed in forward and rearward facing pairs to achieve optimum person space and privacy in a lounge style environment. Mark Russell, general manager of east Asia for British Airways, said at Wednesday's ceremony that the innovative service won improved customer satisfaction to 35 percent and British Airways also witnessed increasing profits from this service. The service is now available on all flights to London as well as Manila and Taipei from Hong Kong.
