China to Intensify Management of Foreign Cash
China will intensify its efforts to control legal withdrawal and carrying overseas of foreign exchange, an official with the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE) said on August 7.
An increasing number of passengers have been found carrying foreign exchange out of China in violation of rules, while some people have been found to have withdrawn large amounts of foreign exchange by illegal means.
The official said these activities have harmed the normal financial order and prompted illegal foreign exchange transactions. The SAFE will cooperate with the customs to step up efforts to crack down on such illegal activities.
