Nasrallah Re-Elected as Hezbollah Chief
Hassan Nasrallah, secretary general of the Lebanese resistance guerrilla group Hezbollah, or Party of God, has been re-elected leader of the group, the official NNA news agency reported on Tuesday.
Nasrallah has been elected as the chief of the organization for three times in a row since 1992. His new term will be three years.
Hezbollah was established by a group of radical Shi'ite Muslims in June, 1982 during Israel's large-scale invasion of Lebanon
The Syrian and Iranian-backed group has spearheaded resistance against Israeli occupation in southern Lebanon, forcing Israeli troop withdrawal from south Lebanon last May after a 22-year occupation.
However, Hezbollah vows to continue its attacks against Israeli troops as long as the Jewish country still occupies the disputed Shebaa Farms at the Lebanese-Syrian-Israeli border.
