816 Internet Bars in Guangxi Granted Licenses

The Telecommunications Administration of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in south China has issued licenses to 816 Internet bars following a three-month screening campaign.

Of these bars, 132 are in Liuzhou, a railway hub, and 72 in Guilin, a scenic spot best known for its picturesque rivers and mountains. Getting on-line is becoming increasingly popular even in remote county seats such as Debao and Tianlin.

All the Internet bars that have not handled registration procedures by August 20 will be banned, the administration said.
