Chinese Gao Betters Her Fresh Asian Record Again in Worlds

China's Gao Shuying cleared 4.50 meters to beat her own fresh Asian record in the women's pole vault Monday afternoon at the eighth IAAF World Championships held in Edmonton, Canada.

Gao who succeeded in her first fourth attempt to clear 4.45 for an Asian record to surpass her original mark of 4.42 meters, created another mark in her first fifth attempt by vaulting over the bar rested on the height of 4.50m, which was reset by the organizers after first three of the eight remaining finalists made their attempts.

The competitions for the gold medal are still going on, with world record holder Stacy Dragila of the United States remaining the hot favorite.

The 21-year-old Chinese finished 10th in the Sydney Olympic Games, but was honored the winner in the East Asian Games this year.
