Tiger Cubs Born at Shanghai Zoo

A pair of South China tiger twins have been born at the zoo in this east China metropolis, bringing the zoo's tiger population to 14.

One of the twins is a female, the other male. Both have opened their eyes and are able to crawl about after the mother tiger. The keepers described them as healthy and lovely.

The twin cubs are the offspring of two six-year-old tigers, Kangkang and Lele. The couple have given birth to seven tiger cubs in the past three years.

The South China tiger is one of the world's most endangered animals. There are currently about 60 such tigers living in over 20 zoos in China.
