The following are the facts and figures about China's main import commodities from
Japan
during January-June of 2001, released by the General Administration of Customs:
Overall imports from Japan: 21.022 billion US dollars, up 10. 1 percent.
Machinery, electronic products and audio and video equipment: 10.867 billion US dollars.
Base metals and products: 2.264 billion US dollars.
Textile raw material and products: 1.589 billion US dollars.
Chemical products: 1.573 billion US dollars.
Plastic and rubber products: 1.383 billion US dollars.
Optical and medical instruments: 1.342 billion US dollars.
Vehicles and transportation equipment: 926.010 million US dollars.
