UPS Sees Rapid Business Growth in China

United Parcel Service (UPS), the world's largest express carrier and package delivery company, headquartered in the US, has announced in Shanghai that its business in China during the second quarter of this year had increased by 25 percent from the same period of last year.

Due to the strong growth of Chinese business, UPS' global revenue for the quarter hit 7.6 billion US dollars, up 3.9 percent year on year, according to an official with the company.

Starting in April, UPS has six weekly flights between the United States and China, directly servicing Beijing and Shanghai.

According to the official, direct flights between the two countries cut the time in transit for express delivery to and from major commercial centers in China.

Experts noted that, with the opening of the new UPS direct fights to China, competition in the Chinese express delivery market is likely to become more heated.
