Police Found Explosives in House of Soeharto's Fugitive Son
Jakarta police on Monday night raided a rented house believed to be connected to Soeharto's fugitive son Hutomo "Tommy" Mandala Putra, and seized a sack full of grenades and other explosives, but didn't find Tommy, Metro TV reported.
According to city police chief Inspector General Sofjan Jacoeb, the raid took place on Jl. Alam Segar in Pondok Indah in South Jakarta at about 7:30 p.m., all the explosives found in the house were live and could be automatically detonated by punching in an access code on a cellular phone. Police seized M-16 rifles along with several handguns as well.
Earlier, police had captured three suspects who told police that Tommy had visited the house in Pondok Indah several times and that the place was used to stack weaponry. This information directly led the raid of the house.
