Seven Billion Yuan to Be Invested in Ameliorating Qinghai Lake
As learnt from related department in order to turn the Qinghai Lake National Nature Reserve into a unique tourism area on the Qinghai Plateau, Qinghai Provincial government has decided to invest 7 billion yuan for ameliorating the Qinghai Lake within a period of 30 years.
The project includes forbidding fishing and herding in and around the Qinghai Lake areas, artificially proliferating Gymnocypris przewalskii, a special kind of fish in the lake, and establishing bird propagation field and water-insetting project, so as to restore the natural ecological environment of the Lake.
In the light of the decision of the provincial government, the Provincial Development Planning Committee, putting their heads together with the related experts, has mapped out the "Qinghai Lake Reaches Ecological Environment Protection and Comprehensive Harnessing Program". Including in it are the 10 projects for a comprehensive harnessing of desertification and restoration of natural pastures, etc.
