Care Network for Infants Operational

An intensive care network for newborns with serious diseases has been put into operation in Zhengzhou, this capital city of central China's Henan Province.

Experts said that death rate of children under five is a key index for measuring the health care level of a country. About 58.4 percent of the babies who die under five are newborn babies.

Henan set up a provincial intensive care center for children with serious diseases in 1998, which has succeeded in saving over 3,000 children.

The newly-established network is based on the center and links over 1,00 hospitals across the province for cooperation in the field.
