China Recovers Form with a 3-0 Win over Trinidad and Tobago

China Recovers Form with a 3-0 Win over Trinidad and Tobago
China inflicted a convincing 3-0 defeat on outsiders Trinidad and Tobago after dominating their second match in four-nation soccer tournament Sunday in Shanghai.

Yugoslav head coach Bora Milutinovic and soccer fans were anxious to see a more decisive performance from a team which lost to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea 6-4 on Friday, shortly before the 2002 World Cup Asian qualification matches.

After a goalless first half, star striker Hao Haidong opened the scoring 14 minutes after the break and his substitute Su Maozhen headed the second from close range in the 77th minute.

Zhang Yuning, substituted for Yu Genwei in the 75th minute, completed the job seven minutes before the end, slotting home a nice pass by Li Xiaopeng.

After the victory, China finished third in the four-nation tournament.

DPR Korea are now leading 1-0 over Kuwait in the final.
