The toll in flood and landslide tragedy in the island of Nias in North Sumatra province, Indonesia, rose to 77 dead, 99 missing and 332 houses and three bridges destroyed.

All the dead victims had been evacuated while the rescue team continues its search for those missing, Nias district head Binahati D. Bahea was quoted by the Antara News Agency Sunday as saying.

It was reported that relief aid in the form of food and medicine have poured in from different sources, including the central government, the provincial administration as well as civilian and military institutions.

A fierce storm hit Nias island early Tuesday as most people were sleeping, triggering flash floods and landslides which swept away scores of homes.
