New Passenger Train to Be Available Between Chinese, Russian Cities

A new international passenger train will go into operation late September connecting Suifenhe of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province and Vladivostok, a Russian coastal city in the far-east.

With a population of 700,000, Vladivostok is a famous tourist resort and a major outlet to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Republic of Korea, Japan and the United States. Suifenhe City, some 230 kilometers away from Vladivostok, is also a tourist city flourishing with border trade with Russia.

Experts here believe that the commencement of this international passenger train will not only benefit border trade and tourist industries in both countries, but also create a major outlet for Heilongjiang Province.

Therefore, it will be of great significance to economic development of this province with the upcoming China's WTO entry.
