Fujian Farmers Earn More in Cash
Farmers in east China's
Fujian
Province earned an average of 1,653.3 yuan (200 US dollars) in cash income in the first six months of this year, up 5.1 percent year on year, according to official statistics.
About 40 percent of the cash income came from agriculture. The remaining 60 percent are mainly from migratory jobs in cities.
Slow growth in farmers' income has become a major issue in the Chinese economy and a concern of the government over recent years.
