Tourist Festival to be Held to Increase Border Tourism

A tourist festival will be held in the city of Dongxing, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on October 26 to 28 to promote the tourism industry in the border area between China and Vietnam.

Delegates from home and the Southeast Asian region will attend the festival, which, apart from tourist visits, will also include symposiums, cooperative negotiations, and cultural activities.

Statistics show that over 423,700 people went through the Dongxing customs in southern Guangxi for tours last year, and the figure in the first half of this year reached 225,000.

It has been learned that the construction of eight new entry- exit passages is currently underway and upon completion in October, the project, at a cost of 2.8 million yuan (US$337,000), will enable the customs to handle over 50,000 people a day.
