n Grant Hackett set a world record in the men's 800 meters freestyle at the Australian Short Course Championships in Perth on Friday.
Hackett, who had broken 1,500m freestyle world record at the World Swimming Championship in
Japan
five days ago, clocked seven minutes 25.28 seconds, slicing 9.62 seconds off the previous mark set by Australia's Kieren Perkins in Sydney in 1993.
