Pakistan to Cooperate with UN Monitors on Afghanistan: Spokesman

Pakistan Wednesday said it would cooperate with UN monitors who will be deployed along Afghan borders to check any violation of arms embargo on the ruling Taliban.

Being a responsible member of the United Nations, Pakistan would extend cooperation in the work of the monitoring mechanism, said a Foreign Office spokesman.

He made this statement while replying to a question regarding resolution 1363 (2001) adopted by the UN Security Council on 30th July, which proposed establishment of monitoring mechanism for supervising UN sanctions against the Taliban under a UNSC resolution approved in 1999.
